“The richness of present-moment experience is the richness of life itself. Too often we let our thinking and our beliefs about what we ‘know’ prevent us from seeing things as they really are.” ― John Kabat-Zinn |
In today’s busy world, many of us have become a bit distracted by modern day stressors. We have become seemingly disconnected from our present moment awareness of ourselves and our environment. Join Lisa and Michael for a meaningful conversation on the importance of cultivating a practice of mindfulness in our lives. There is a gift in nurturing our ability to be fully present in the moment, by being aware of what is around us. Siddhartha author, Herman Hesse, wrote, “Within you, there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself.” Allowing ourselves to pay attention to what we’re sensing in the present moment without judging our thoughts and feelings can free us from our memories of the past or our imaginings of our future. Mindfulness has countless positive benefits on both our physical and mental health by decreasing stress, anxiety, and depression levels, as well as improving our relationships, insights, and job performance. Practicing mindfulness through a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment may take patience but when we become fully immersed in and at one with the present moment we experience a richer and more vivid experience of the gift of being alive. |
